Bridgewater offers you the opportunity of living the life of the artist for an entire week. You will stay at the school with all your meals provided. Studios are open 24 hours and you can paint as long as you wish. Because I stay on location, classes never really end. Often I will walk down to the studio late in the evening and visit students who are still working. Painting at Bridgewater is an artistic experience you won’t forget.
Doug is professional painter, teacher and writer. He is the author Colour Secrets for Glowing Oil Paintings. He teaches at Loyalist College and The School of Continuing Studies – University of Toronto along with giving his popular workshops for art associations and art groups. He is Educational and Technical Advisor for Winsor & Newton in Canada. His work is shown in galleries in North America and Britain and is in collections worldwide.
In this intensive weekend workshop, using traditional oil painting techniques you can work out of doors. There is a large air-conditioned studio if you prefer to work indoors or if there is inclement weather. The focus will be on the materials and techniques required to paint rapidly on location. We will discuss methods of drawing, composition and colour theory and how you can use these skills effectively in your paintings.
This course is suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. Traditional or water-mixable oils may be used.
Course Fee: $90
Accommodation Fee: Bridge Water Retreat
