Using both the studio and surroundings of Bridgewater, you will paint with oils and use quick value studies and photos to develop plein air and larger studio paintings. Learn to visualize complicated landscapes into simpler shapes and values to develop a more interesting composition. Become aware and learn to apply soft and hard edges and colour temperature. There will be discussion of various block-in methods and a demonstration of at least one. Demonstrations, individual assistance and critique are part of each day. Discovering his great satisfaction from drawing and painting at a very early age, John was an art major in high school, then studied at OCAD. His architectural illustrations were used in projects around the world and he also worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in Toronto, Montreal and Chicago. An award winning artist, John prefers painting en plein air with both oil and acrylics. "The purest and most rewarding form of painting, in my opinion, is 'en plein air', as it challenges all of the skills and discipline of the artist." www.prycestudios.com
